BC Fly Guide / Single Spey Fly-Fishing Adventures specializes exclusively in guided fly-fishing trips year-round on Vancouver Island. Located in Campbell River, we have an endless amount of watersheds to explore which host wild runs of Steelhead, Salmon & Trout.

Surrounded by Ocean also gives us an incredible amount of Saltwater fly-fishing opportunities. In Summer & Fall the Sea-Run Cutthroat Trout, Coho & Pink Salmon cruise the shoreline of Vancouver Island making them easy targets with floating lines and bait patterns.

Vancouver Island has many amazing fly-fishing opportunities for Steelhead, Salmon & trout! Campbell River, Gold River, Stamp River, Nimpkish River & Cowichan River are only a few of many great rivers to explore on the Island. Our fisheries are different in nature than the famous mainland rivers of British Columbia like the Kispiox River, Dean River, Babine River, Bulkley River, Copper River and many more from the Skeena River & Nass River watersheds. Our Rivers flow larger in Winter months with our Coastal Rain and smaller in summer & Fall with minimal risks of getting flooded out of a day or week of fishing! Our US neighbors Down South who often fish their famous rivers like the Umpqua River, Skagit River, Dechutes River, Smith River & Trinity River to name a few appreciate the wild runs of Fish with minimal angling pressure on Vancouver Island. All these rivers offer unique angling experiences. Come to Vancouver Island for another unique fly-fishing adventure for you to experience!

Let us share with you the skills needed to catch these fish with both single and double handed fly-rods. Enjoy a Vancouver Island Fly-fishing Adventure with Single Spey Fly-fishing Adventures of Campbell River, BC.

Winter & Spring

STEELHEAD: Fly-fishing on Vancouver Island for steelhead in the winter can be a challenge at the best of times. We like to use two handed rods & large flies using a traditional swing for presentation. Our winter steelhead are larger in size & numbers than in summer months. The rewards are awesome when hooking one of these bright wild fish. Venturing along pristine watersheds through coastal rain forests is something you will not soon forget!

TROUT: On occasion while fly-fishing Vancouver Island you will encounter Sea-Run Cutthroat while searching for steelhead, these fish are feisty and quite aggressive to the fly! Our winter / spring steelhead & trout enter the rivers between Nov - May. We fish many rivers including the Gold, Salmon & Nimpkish. Spring time also brings excellent lake fishing for trout as an option when visiting.

Summer & Fall

STEELHEAD: Starting in late June our first Summer Steelhead arrive. These fish typically like to travel into the upper reaches and tributaries of our watersheds. The Vancouver Island fly-fishing locations are mostly pristine gin-clear waters with pools & runs one dreams about. This perfect fly-water is great for casting & dead-drifting large dry-flies into. When one of these chrome wild fish come to your fly hold on! This fly-fishery is without a doubt one of the best in the world!

SALMON: Pink Salmon are the first to arrive in mid July. We start targeting these fish on our ocean beaches. Schools of them can be found cruising near the shoreline and are highly aggressive to a stripped fly! They are easy targets and great fighters averaging 4 pounds. They are also great fun in our rivers when they first arrive and are still chrome. Our Coho salmon (silvers) can be found from Aug - Nov and can be fished the same as the pinks in both the Ocean & river. They are 8 pounds on average, very acrobatic and a real challenge to land. On occassions we also target Chum and King salmon when suitable. These fish are more than a hand full when hooked.

TROUT: Dolly Varden, Sea-Run Cutthroat & Rainbows can all be found around Vancouver Island. We can specifically target these fish but also encounter them while fishing for Salmon & steelhead. Our most unique trout fishery is targeting Sea-Run Cutthroat on our ocean beaches.
